White House chief of staff: 50 years of Israeli occupation must end

White House chief of staff: 50 years of Israeli occupation must end
U.S. cannot pretend Netanyahu didn't say no Palestinian state would be established on his watch, Denis McDonough tells J Street conference in Washington

“We cannot simply pretend that those comments were never made,” McDonough told the J Street conference in Washington, whose left-leaning audience received his remarks enthusiastically.

“Israel cannot maintain military control of another people indefinitely,” he said. “An occupation that has lasted for almost 50 years must end.”

FEMA to deny funds to Governors who refuse to acknowledge climate change

FEMA to deny funds to warming deniers

States whose governors refuse to acknowledge climate change will not get preparedness aid.

KATHERINE BAGLEY, INSIDECLIMATE NEWS
POSTED: Sunday, March 22, 2015, 1:09 AM

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is making it tougher for governors to deny man-made climate change. Starting next year, the agency will approve disaster-preparedness funds only for states whose governors approve hazard-mitigation plans that address climate change.

This may put several Republican governors who maintain that the Earth isn't warming due to human activities, or prefer to take no action, in a political bind. Their position may block their states' access to hundreds of millions of dollars in FEMA funds. In the last five years, the agency has awarded an average $1 billion a year in grants to states and territories for taking steps to mitigate the effects of disasters.

"If a state has a climate denier governor that doesn't want to accept a plan, that would risk mitigation work not getting done because of politics," said Becky Hammer, an attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council's water program. "The governor would be increasing the risk to citizens in that state" because of his climate beliefs.

...........

"This could potentially become a major conflict for several Republican governors," said Barry Rabe, an expert on the politics of climate change at the University of Michigan. "We aren't just talking about coastal states."

GOP lawmaker: Air Force cadets must pledge to God because there is no ‘freedom from religion’

................

“Let me be clear: Americans have the freedom of religion – but not freedom from religion. That’s why I am introducing legislation that requires Congressional approval before any change would be made to military oaths,” he continued.

“The moral foundation of our country is in serious danger if we allow radical groups to dictate whether or not we can freely express our religious beliefs! It’s time to take a stand.”

Sen Inhofe denies climate change. Inhofe also accepts money from BP. Surely no conflict of interest?

Climate-sceptic US senator given funds by BP political action committee
Senator Jim Inhofe, who opposes climate change regulation, has received $10,000 from PAC funded by donations from US staff at oil group

One of America’s most powerful and outspoken opponents of climate change regulation received election campaign contributions that can be traced back to senior BP staff, including chief executive Bob Dudley.

Jim Inhofe, a Republican senator from Oklahoma who has tirelessly campaigned against calls for a carbon tax and challenges the overwhelming consensus on climate change, received $10,000 (£6,700) from BP’s Political Action Committee (PAC).

Following his re-election, Inhofe became chair of the Senate’s environment and public works committee in January, and then a month later featured in news bulletins throwing a snowball across the Senate floor.

Before tossing it, the senator said: “In case we have forgotten – because we keep hearing that 2014 is the warmest year on record – it is very, very cold outside. Very unseasonal.”

Apparently in the last 20 years it never crossed delusional Oval Office coveter / genius extraordinaire Senator Ted Cruz's mind that maybe—just maybe—Tedcruz.com might come in handy someday.

Hysterically, someone else did. Though I wouldn't blame them for selling, here's hoping the current owner of Tedcruz.com maintains ownership and puts the website to good use. Whoever it is is off to a good start already. May the hilarity ensue.
