Smoking Gun Reporting: Deputy who fired gun instead of taser was investigated in 2009
very troubling new info from 2009 here:
CBS News learned that in 2009, the Tulsa Sheriff's Office launched an internal investigation to find out if Bates received special treatment during training and while working as a reserve deputy. They also investigated whether supervisors pressured training officers on Bates' behalf.
The investigation concluded Bates' training was questionable and that he was given preferential treatment.
The investigation found that deputies voiced concerns about Bates' behavior in the field, almost from the very beginning. Bates reportedly used his personal car while on duty and made unauthorized vehicle stops. When confronted Bates said that he could do what he wanted, and that anyone who had a problem with him should go see the sheriff.

:largeHillary Clinton: "Some day people are going to read about them & wonder, who were these people?"
Clinton reiterated her support for President Obamas executive actions on carbon emissions, and suggested she might be open to more.
I give Obama and the EPA enormous credit for going as far as he can go as a president using executive and regulatory action, she said, according to pool reporter Annie Karni of Politico. We have to actually convince more Americans that this is in their interest. You know, whatever it takes. I happen to think its a real threat. I think the science is pretty clear. The deniers, Lord knows, some day people are going to read about them and wonder, who were these people? And how did they say this?
On campaign finance, Clinton said even total disclosure of campaign money is not enough on its own.
What good does it do to disclose if somebodys about to spend $100 million to promote their own interest and to defeat candidates who would stand up against them? What good does that do? Clinton said.

Hillary Clinton Campaign Launches Grassroots Organizing Program In ALL 50 States
WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign is launching a major grassroots organizing effort Wednesday, sending staffers to every single state to start building an infrastructure of volunteers ready to pound the pavement.
What's being called the "Ramp Up Grassroots Organizing Program" will have paid staffers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the territories through the end of May. They'll be working with Clinton supporters to organize local meetings, volunteer trainings and other grassroots events, according to the campaign.
Wednesday's announcement recalls the "50-state strategy" pushed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean when he was chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2005 to 2009. Dean argued that Democrats shouldn't concede any state as "unwinnable" and should invest resources in building an infrastructure in every single state -- a strategy Clinton will be testing should she make it to the general election.
Since jumping into the race, Clinton has focused on smaller, more intimate events, meeting with students at a rural community college in Iowa, for example, and spotlighting a message of middle-class economics. Next month, however, she'll have a larger rally, and these state teams will organize house parties for people to watch the kick-off.
