Using Google Glass: at the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600A day in the life of a hungover cyborg

At one point during the evening Sarah Palin arrived at the hotel and made a smooth, practiced pass through the bar shaking hands and taking photos with a long line of admirers. I stood next to her for several minutes but she wouldn't take a photo with me or wear Glass. "What's in it for us?" asked her husband Todd, staring squarely at the camera and screen floating just above my hazy, bourbon-enhanced eyes. "We don't know what company you're with."
When I told him I wasn't after an endorsement but was rather a journalist interested in her opinion of Glass, he icily asked me to leave.

New CBO Study Shows Tax Breaks Favor The Affluent (charts)
So whos getting all this money? The affluent, for the most part. Nearly half of the budgetary cost of the expenditures went to people in the top income quintile, which, for a family of four, means families making over $162,800 a year pre-tax:

Heki vs. Bachmann: the real reason Michele Bachmann quit
byT he Big E
Someone from Michele Bachmann's 2012 presidential campaign team stole an email list off of Barb Heki's laptop. This list was from the evangelical home school organization for which Heki played a leadership role. She lost that role and was disgraced. She sued.
This lawsuit was a part of the pile of ethical scandals endangering Bachmann's political future.
Yesterday, the court scheduled the trial.
....................................
Here's what it very well could be about...
Pay attention to the date!
This morning, the seven-day trial in Heki v. Bachmann was scheduled for May 14, 2014, court records show.
Barb Heki, the woman whose email list Team Bachmann stole, will have her day in court. Bachmann's trip to Iowa to negotiate a settlement failed utterly.

Politico's Allen Lets One Slip on Republican's Motives Behind Benghazi Scandal-Mongering
ALLEN: Privately, Republicans say that Benghazi probably wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for Hillary Clinton. Unlike the IRS...
ROSE: If this wasn't for her in 2016, this wouldn't be an issue?
ALLEN: Yeah, because it's something that people don't understand. Even the White House will tell you it's never going to be resolved to anyone's satisfaction, but there is going to be a real effort to make it last.
And when we're talking about these three controversies, we should remember, world event history tells us that world events can change everything. Somebody pointed out to me that if the Boston marathon happened next week, this would all look different.
ROSE: Right.

Throw another log on the fire.... by Matt Wuerker
Steve Benen makes great point about President Obama's choice of James Comey to be the next Director
But there's one other angle that's worth thinking about as the process unfolds: if Obama had any reason to worry about ongoing investigations casting the White House in a negative light, the president would not have chosen a Republican with a history of independence to lead the FBI. On the contrary, if Obama were the least bit concerned about the so-called "scandals," he'd be eager to do the opposite -- choosing a Democratic ally for the FBI.

Straight Talk: Don't Blame the IRS For Doing Their Job
Lawrence O'Donnell joined former IRS official Marcus Owens and Democratic strategist Julian Epstein for some straight talk on IRS activity with regard to their examination of applications for tax-exempt status and whether what they did was improper. Here are some facts to go with the discussion:
*The only organization to have its tax-exempt status revoked was one run by Democratic women to try and encourage more women to run for office.
*There is no requirement that any 501(c)(4) organization apply for approval of their tax-exempt status. If they do not apply, there is a risk of audit and disqualification down the road, but they are not required to apply to be a 501(c)(4) entity.
*Despite Rush Limbaugh's exaggerated claims, there was no limitation imposed by the IRS on these groups' ability to influence the 2012 election.
*Many of the IRS requests for information came about because of activities observed by agents in real time.
