This is an (admittedly huge) list of words that supposedly cause the NSA to flag you as a potential terrorist if you over-use them in an email.
We found this on Reddit, where James Bamford, a veteran reporter with 30 years experience covering the NSA, is answering questions from the community. This list comes from Reddit user GloriousDawn, who found it on Attrition.org, a site that very closely follows the security industry.

Hispanic Grads More Likely to Enroll in College Than Whites

It turns out that nearly seven in 10 Hispanic high school graduates from the class of 2012 enrolled in college in the fall, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of Census data. That's two percentage points higher than the rate among whites, and six percentage points higher than the rate among blacks.

The Syrian revolution isn’t democratic or secular; the more than 90,000 fatalities are the result of a civil war, not a genocide — and human rights violations have been committed on both sides

Moreover, the rebels don’t have the support or trust of a clear majority of the population, and the political opposition is neither credible nor representative. Ethnic cleansing against minorities is more likely to occur under a rebel-led government than under Mr. Assad; likewise, the possibility of chemical weapons’ falling into the hands of terrorist groups only grows as the regime weakens.

And finally, a rebel victory is more likely to destabilize Iraq and Lebanon, and the inevitable disorder of a post-Assad Syria constitutes a greater threat to Israel than the status quo.

Not since the 2003 invasion of Iraq has American foreign policy experienced a strategic void so pervasive.

I submit to you that this program, although the proponents picked it as American as ‘‘apple spy,’’ is an anti-American program. We are not North Koreans. We don’t live in Nazi Germany. We are Americans and we are human beings, and we deserve to have our privacy respected. I have no way to call my mother except to employ the services of Verizon or AT&T or some other telephone company. I’m not going to string two cups between my house and her house 70 miles away. That doesn’t mean that it’s okay with me for the government -- and specifically the Department of Defense -- to be getting information about every telephone call I make to her. It’s not okay with me.

We know you are there. You're a human with a conscience. It has not been stolen from you.

Your superiors don't know what the consequences for this will be, because there is no historical precedent that is 100% relevant. They, like you, are links in a chain that stretches from past imperfect precursors of Total Information Awareness surveillance to a future with consequences they could only guess at...if they tried. Your superiors don't even do that, they merely pat each other on the back via internal studies that reinforce their desire to get to the next paycheck with as few hassles as possible. Their concern is is appear to meet project goals within assigned deadlines, and not the consequences for civil society. They are focused on their own status within each organization affiliated with the NSA, and not on morality.


What you do know is all past leaders and spy systems fu*ked up time & time again. That is what history has shown. Don't be fooled by their blase swagger, they don't know what the fu*k they are doing when they chart new territory. They can only enact their plans, but they don't know what the consequences will be. No wars have ever gone according to plan after the shooting starts. The only guranteed outcome is death. Any illegal or unconstitutional programs of the NSA can only offer a kind of death to the body politic if let run to their conclusions.

Your role in stopping them is critical. You have the ability to save not only lives, but the soul of a country as well.

You are human. Still. You possess an inner reality that has not yet been completely submerged to the office politics and desire for financial success your "superiors" expect to keep you quiet. You are a citizen of a free country inside your own head. Show the world what that means. Show us who you are. Reveal the illegality & the unconstitutionality, and thereby protect the freedom of thought and access to truth that any parent wishes for their own child to have access to one day.

Revealing illegality and unconstitutionality doesn't make you a terrorist.

You are not a terrorist.
Your children are not terrorists.

The cost will be great for you to do so. The cost not to do so, for you, would be even greater. You know that, even if no one else does, and that is why you'll speak out.

A recent briefing by senior intelligence officials on surveillance programs failed to attract even half of the Senate, showing the lack of enthusiasm in Congress for learning about classified security programs. [...]

Retired Federal Judge: Your Faith In Secret Surveillance Court Is Dramatically Misplaced

As a former Article III judge, I can tell you that your faith in the FISA Court is dramatically misplaced.

A retired federal judge warned Friday against blind faith in the secret court deciding the scope of U.S. government surveillance. During a panel discussion on constitutional privacy protection in the wake of a leaked Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court decision that revealed widespread NSA data collection, U.S. District Judge Nancy Gertner stood up in the audience to counter the statements of conservative law professor Nathan Sales that secret surveillance requests are subject to meaningful judicial review. She cautioned:

Two reasons: One … The Fourth Amendment frameworks have been substantially diluted in the ordinary police case. One can only imagine what the dilution is in a national security setting. Two, the people who make it on the FISA court, who are appointed to the FISA court, are not judges like me. Enough said.
