GOOD!

Attorneys general from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Washington and North Carolina, among others, have begun discussions on how to sue the administration to prevent operational changes or funding lapses that could affect the election.

Biden’s campaign, meanwhile, plans to devote a “substantial” portion of $280 million in reserved ad time this fall to education messages designed to walk voters through their options on how to vote safely and securely.

Robert Reich: The dysfunction today is that Republicans can't govern and Democrats can't fight.

Instead of “left” versus “right”, think of two different core competences.

The Democratic party is basically a governing party, organized around developing and implementing public policies. The Republican party has become an attack party, organized around developing and implementing political vitriol. Democrats legislate. Republicans fulminate.

In theory, politics requires both capacities – to govern, but also to fight to attain and retain power. The dysfunction today is that Republicans can’t govern and Democrats can’t fight.

Donald Trump is the culmination of a half-century of Republican belligerence. Richard Nixon’s “dirty tricks” were followed by Republican operative Lee Atwater’s smear tactics, Newt Gingrich’s take-no-prisoners reign as House speaker, the “Swift-boating” of John Kerry, and the Republicans’ increasingly blatant uses of racism and xenophobia to build an overwhelmingly white, rural base.

................

Democrats know what to do – House Democrats passed a comprehensive coronavirus bill in May, and several Democratic governors have been enormously effective – but they’ve lacked power to put a national strategy into effect.

It's handy when they just spell it out for you:

"P.S. I am just an average old retired guy and this stuff is way over my head!!)"

I'm old guy too, and the one asset that we have is a lot experience (if we can remember it.) Your post made me remember it. When I was kid it was simple. If you were fresh off the boat, you were not considered an American. If your parents were Jamaican, you were not considered American. If your parents were Indian (as in India), you were not considered American. Now that was just simple kid thinking, but you know what, there's was something to it. There was an inherent understanding of what it was to be American by us white kids. Having non-American parents puts anyone at a disadvantage of learning to be American. Their parents aren't American so their parents can't teach them to be American. Harris is the model of this. She IS anti-American. She IS a Marxist. She was raised by two foreigners. What more do you expect. I don't give a crap about birther stuff. I do give a crap about Marxists living in our Republic.

Call it discrimination if you want. But the important thing is Harris is anti-American and anti-capitalism. There is no way I am ever going to vote for a half-breed, foreigner female. She may be born here, but she'll always be a foreigner to me because she just isn't American.

I can't wait to spit on his grave.

Trump on why he won't negotiate a new coronavirus stimulus bill: "The country is doing very well right now. We can live very happily with it [or] without it."

Romney: "We have 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's deaths due to covid-19"

‘There’s No Way to Spin That’

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) offered rare Republican criticism of the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, saying the federal government dismissed the virus’s threat and failed to protect Americans as infections spiraled out of control, the Washington Post reports.

Said Romney: “Short term, I think it’s fair to say we really have not distinguished ourselves in a positive way by how we responded to the crisis when it was upon us. And the proof of the pudding of that is simply that we have 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of the world’s deaths due to covid-19.”

He added: “And there’s no way to spin that in a positive light.”
