I had to think about this a bit, and realized that I am not going to be alone in this. So I will let you know one day sooner than promised.
Here is the exact wording of the theme as given to me by HappyCynic the winner of the January contest, I will pass it on for your perusal and for the donning of creative thinking caps.
As I'm a day ahead of you knowing it I'm beginning to see the beauty in this theme.
Examples:
- the bark of a tree
- a thorny stem
- one half of a broken bottle
- the rim of a tea cup
- the paw of a cat
For the "can't stand alone" part... A cloud would not fit in with the theme because, although it's a part of the "sky", it can stand alone as "a cloud". I know things can get kind of vague and debatable but the main intent is to have someone look at the picture and think of the whole item. (A photo of a car engine on cinder blocks wouldn't really fit the theme but a photo of a car engine clearly still within a car - maybe parts of the chassis and/or windshield are visible - would fit.)
I will before too long make the roster of the timing for the contest. I will be sure to end it before February expires, realizing it is the short month.
I very much hope you will also be intrigued by the theme, and get to either shooting or scanning your archives. There is time, but as always, it is awasting.
Announcing ***February Contest*** Theme reveal coming in two days
The Winner of Janary's contest, HappyCynic, has given it to me. I asked, because I'm on to run the contest in February.
It is an intriguing, well conceived, and novel idea Theme.
That's all I tell you today. I want to keep your minds free of musing about it until after the next important political days are behind us.
Well, it makes sense to me.
Bullseye. This describes the freedom the Deplorables crave - before it kills them and the neighbors.
Photographers, I have a problem. My eyesight.
Yesterday I spent over 5 hours with the eye doctors and learned that the huge blob obstructing almost all vision in my left eye is a bleed from wet macular degeneration.
I got my first injection into the retina and there are more to come.
This is a bad and possibly permanent condition and I'm working hard on making peace with it. Over time I think I'll adjust, but for now just "seeing" is pretty tough.
Some things had to be postponed or changed, and now I'm coming up on the July contest which I am to host, and I think that will be very hard for me.
The doctor says the improvement, if any, can take months. Surgery was nixed by the doctors at Duke who were consulted.
I am in possession of the theme for the new contest, and it's a really nice one. sinkingfeeling let me know it in a private message.
I hope someone will volunteer to take over for me and host the July contest. To that special person I will divulge the theme.
Please help me out.

We won't even walk to see the birds (Christian Cooper). We'll just sit and try not to breathe (George Floyd) and not to sleep (Breonna Taylor)."
