The Interview:Jimmy Carter is the 39th President of the United States and the Founder of The Carter Center, which “seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health” around the world. President Carter has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 1984, when he led an effort to renovate a New York City building and provide 19 families with shelter. His newest book is A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence and Power.

Neera Tanden is the president of the Center for American Progress and counselor to the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Formerly the Senior Advisor for Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services, Tanden writes a regular online column for The New Republic.

In honor of our former President Jimmy Carter - who just moved me to choke up
Jimmy Carter is a treasure. Brilliant, courageous, honest, outspoken, knowledgeable, self-assured and for an old man incredibly with-it. He minces no words.
He was on with David Letterman to discuss his new book which calls us to action in areas that are usually not talked about. He was on top of all the percentages about female genital mutilation worldwide, he spoke about female human trafficking and females forced into prostitution in this very country in a new form of slavery.
He told about Atlanta being the Hub of this activity, because it's such a large airport and connected to the Southern hemisphere.
He was very clear in expressing the need for us to step in and create awareness and change. David Letterman in essence was reduced to tread gently with eyes like saucers unable at the end to say little other than "I wish you had been able to be more funny".
In the world of the Fox news robots the word is that Jimmy Carter was our worst president ever.
I am so sad that I cannot alter those closed minds.
And I am horribly sad that he is quite old now and we will lose him. Yet I also chose to be Joyous he is still with us today lucid and brilliant, unabashedly pinpointing where the world is failing women and disrespecting them.
When it comes to Jimmy Carter, this is a country for listening to selected wise old men.

Obama’s Plan to Pay People Enough to Eat Stirs Controversy /Borowitz unveils
Washington (The Borowitz Report) — President Obama has sparked outrage in Congress and renewed calls for his impeachment by signing a daring Presidential memorandum that would pay workers enough to eat.
The memorandum, which is based on the President’s view that people should be paid for the hours they actually work, is shaping up as one of the most controversial and incendiary actions of his Presidency.
House Republican leaders held a press conference this morning to warn Obama that, by advancing his agenda of paying people for the work they do, he is “playing with political fire.”
“A Presidential memorandum is a powerful tool and should be used sparingly,” said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). “It is not a vehicle for this President to enact his pet theories about people earning enough to survive.”
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) concurred, telling reporters, “With one stroke of the pen, President Obama is removing the single greatest incentive for work: hunger.”
“Apparently, President Obama needs a lesson in American history,” he said. “Hunger built the railroads. Hunger picked the crops. When the American people learn more about this action of the President’s, they will see it for what it is: a hunger-killer.”
