Ron DeSantis breaks his silence on a possible Trump indictment

Source: NBC

“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair, I just, I can’t speak to that," he said. "That's an example of pursuing a political agenda."

Thanks, Beto! (Again)

Beto O'Rourke is organizing wellness checks for seniors during Texas' blackouts. Ted Cruz is in Cancun.

Hundreds of thousands of Texans remain without power Thursday morning as millions more deal with burst pipes and other consequences of unprecedented winter weather. O'Rourke, the former 2020 Democratic presidential and 2018 Texas Senate candidate, has been making the TV rounds to call out the Republicans who've shifted the blame for the power shortages — and is organizing to check in on senior citizens throughout it all.

On Wednesday night, O'Rourke announced he and volunteers had made more than 150,000 wellness calls to seniors throughout the state. And in an interview with CNN, he called out Republicans, including Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who have inaccurately placed most of the blame for the power failures on Texas' renewable energy sources.

"If This Isn't Nice..."

From Kurt Vonnegut...
But I had a good uncle, my late Uncle Alex. He was my father’s kid brother, a childless graduate of Harvard who was an honest life-insurance salesman in Indianapolis. He was well-read and wise. And his principal complaint about other human beings was that they so seldom noticed it when they were happy. So when we were drinking lemonade under an apple tree in the summer, say, and talking lazily about this and that, almost buzzing like honeybees, Uncle Alex would suddenly interrupt the agreeable blather to exclaim, “If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.”
So I do the same now, and so do my kids and grandkids. And I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.

I hope we can all find moments of pure joy this week, or at least contentment, and that we stop to notice it and feel it. We won. Joe Biden will be President. Kamala Harris will be Vice-President. We held the House and took the Senate. If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.

Thanks, Beto!

I don't know if we will win Texas but the fact that we are even talking about it as a real possibility is largely due to the massive GOTV efforts of Beto O'Rourke. That's not hyperbole. He has worked his ass off.

When Beto dropped out of the race, he didn't whine about the media or unfair debate practices or DNC favorites or whatever, he went back to Texas and got to work. When he wasn't invited to speak at the convention and his supporters were pissed off, Beto didn't stoke that anger for personal gain, he defused it and encouraged us to get to work for Joe and Kamala and M.J.

The media tried to paint Beto as just a show pony but he is a work horse. So thank you, Beto. Thank you for your massive fundraising efforts, thank you for helping to register millions of new voters, thank you for organizing thousands of volunteers, thank you for the 5 million phone calls. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Viola Liuzzo's family wants Hoover's name off the FBI building.

https://www.michiganadvance.com/2020/07/16/liuzzo-family-pushes-to-strike-hoover-name-from-fbi-building/?fbclid=IwAR0clD4Sgrgjpk2WZbtUnPCY1LLt1OoVX0_exeuZCVPiur_VlbU5Os1S3Gg

For those not familiar with the story: Viola Liuzzo was murdered by the Klan on the last night of the Selma to Montgomery march. When word got out that there was an FBI informant in the car, Hoover put out false rumors that Viola was a drug addict who only came to Selma to have sex with black men.
