Dumb Criminals: Two Men Try To Rob House Of Professional Axe Thrower

A tomahawk-throwing champion who chased a burglar from her Hemet home said it took her everything she had not to throw the weapon at the man.

Robin Irvine awoke Sunday morning to find a man trying to steal a watch from her wrist while she slept, she said. She let out a scream -- and a string of profanity -- which startled the man, who took off.

“That’s what gave me time to grab ahold of it,” she told NBC, Channel 4 of the ax she keeps by her bedside table. “He ran down the hall and I was right behind him.”

She chased the man wearing only her underwear and a T-shirt, she said, adding that it took all she had not to throw the weapon, paralyzing him.

Police on Thursday charged him with arson and related crimes.

Kansas State To Give Away 300 Pounds Of Bacon To Basketball Attendees

Kansas State has given away everything from pizza to fake beards at basketball games in recent years, but its latest promotion may be the most creative yet — Free Bacon.

On Friday, the first 1,000 K-State students who walk through the doors of Bramlage Coliseum to watch the women’s basketball team take on Tennessee State in its season-opener will receive six slices of bacon in a paper tray.

The promotion was announced to little fanfare originally, but it has gained national attention in recent days with ESPN, The Dan Patrick Show and blogs across the country mentioning it.

Dumb Criminals: Teenage Burglar Arrested After He Leaves Phone In House He Robbed And Mom Calls

Deputies say they tracked down a man who broke into and burglarized a house Thursday after he left his cellphone on the kitchen counter — and his mom called.

An investigator picked up the phone when it started ringing at the Lake Worth house and the word "Mom" appeared on the screen, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrest report. He asked the woman on the other end who the phone belonged to, and she said her son, Derek Codd.

Codd, 19, of Lake Worth, had the victim's cellphone at his house and had hidden the man's shotgun at an abandoned house, the report said. A woman who was with him, Kristen Rynearson, 19, of Lantana, had 49 pieces of jewelry belonging to the victim's wife in her purse.

Kentucky High School Student Refuses To Run Race With Bib Number 666

A Kentucky student refused to run in a cross-country race after being assigned "666" as her race number, according to video from WLEX.

Whitley County High School junior Codie Thacker said she couldn't bring herself to run in the regional race while wearing "666" because of her faith. The number, according the Bible, is the mark of the beast, WLEX says.

"I didn't want to risk my relationship with God and try to take that number," Thacker says.

Cross country coach Gina Croley knows her students, so when she pulled the number assigned to Thacker, she knew there might be a problem.

"I saw it and I was like, 'Whoa,'" she said. "I don't think she will wear that number."

Dumb Criminals: Florida DUI Suspect Was Arrested Dressed As Zombie

A 26-year-old Orlando woman wearing "zombie" contact lenses and dressed as a "pig in a nude color bathing suit" for Halloween was charged with driving under the influence last week, an arrest report released today shows.

Kristine M. Gagnier, a water-sports athlete, was pulled over just before 2 a.m. Friday for driving a Chevy Cavalier erratically on Orange Avenue, the report said.

Gagnier, a wakeskater, failed sobriety tests after she was stopped by Deputy Jeff Lotter.

A breath test pegged her blood-alcohol level at .120 and .121 more than an hour after she was pulled over.

Justin Bieber Offered Job As A Pimp At A Brazillian Brothel

Justin Bieber's recent sighting outside a Brazilian brothel sent a bad message to his fans. But a brothel owner in Carson City, Nev., wants to help to the baby-faced singer maintain his clean reputation.

Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch is offering to Bieber a chance to become an "apprentice pimp" and his business partner.

"It's a safety issue. I'm so afraid he's contracted a disease," Hof told The Huffington Post. "I'd like him to go to a legal U.S. brothel so he doesn't endanger his fans."

The 19-year-old singer and a friend reportedly spent three hours in the popular brothel Centauros bordello in Rio de Janeiro before the teen heartthrob sneaked out, covered in a bed sheet.

Sources told Page Six that the Biebe left with two women. Bieber was identified by his wraparound wrist tattoo, which is visible in some photos, as well as his signature sneakers.

British Couple Choose A Horse For A Bridesmaid At Their Wedding

A horse-mad bride chose her thoroughbred to be one of her bridesmaids at her wedding.

Alex Wells, 28, was attended by her friend Lianna Bourne, 28, and her 17-year-old horse, Toffee, when she married Graham Sales in her childhood home in Nottinghamshire.

Unlike Miss Bourne, Toffee had to stay outside the church during the service, but was waiting when the happy couple emerged from All Saints Church in Coddington, and took her part in the line-up for the official photographs.

Mrs Sales, who grew up in Coddington and events competitively on her thoroughbred, said: 'Toffee is part of the family and is so important to me, I even asked her permission to get married.'

Dumb Criminals: A Recap Of 2013's Bizarre Food Heists

Stolen: 65 cases (about 195 bottles) of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon
In October 2013, all that iconic 20-year-old bourbon, plus nine cases of 13-year-old Van Winkle Family Reserve rye were stolen from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The total value of the theft is said to be around $26,000 (that bourbon sells at auction for as much as $1,190 per bottle). A local high school principal (!) is being investigated on claims that he tried to sell the stolen booze to a Louisville, Kentucky, liquor store, but he argues that he was at the liquor store to inquire about purchasing it, not to sell it. The case is still under investigation.

Stolen: 384 pounds of marinated meat
A man broke into JK Kabab House, an Indian restaurant in Chicago and snatched hundreds of pounds of marinated chicken, lamb and beef in September. He tried to ride off to glory with the meat—about $800 worth—balanced in a bucket on the front of his bike; when that proved unwieldy, he switched to a shopping cart. It was all caught on a surveillance camera. Said Grub Street, “Police say they’re now looking for a guy who’s been doing a lot of grilling.”

Stolen: 11,000 pounds of Nutella
With a street value of $21,000, 6,500 jars of Nutella were stolen from a parked trailer in the central Germany town of Bad Hersfeld last April. (The AP called it “gooey loot.”) Maybe the thieves were throwing a massive post-rave brunch: A trailer full of coffee and a few tons of Red Bull disappeared from the same town in March.

Egyptian Scholars Now Believe The Cause Of King Tut's Death Was a Freak Chariot Accident

It has taken thousands of years, but a combination of 21st-century forensic science and luck has finally revealed what happened to Tutankhamun – the world's most famous pharaoh.

Mystery has surrounded the boy king ever since his death in 1323BC, aged 19. The mystery intensified when the archaeologist Lord Carnarvon died in Cairo shortly after he and Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.

Now British experts think they have solved the riddle of the king's death. They believe injuries on his body are akin to those sustained in a chariot accident and that his mummification was botched.

Dr Chris Naunton, director of the Egypt Exploration Society, was intrigued when he came across references in Carter's records of the body having been burnt. A clue came from Dr Robert Connolly, an anthropologist at Liverpool University, who was part of the team that X-rayed Tutankhamun's remains in 1968. Among the bones in his office he recently found a piece of the pharaoh's flesh – the only known sample outside Egypt.
