I recently started a 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational organization called Mexican Americans In Solidarity With Mexico, also known as SolidarityWithMexico.org. This organization is devoted to promoting an informed understanding of Mexico, and to promoting solidarity and cooperation between the Mexican American community and Mexican civil society. One of the guiding tenets of Solidarity With Mexico is the fundamental belief that Mexicans of all nationalities, despite nominal differences, are ultimately united by a shared historical and cultural experience, and should therefore perceive of themselves as a single and indivisible community. At this point, the organization is in the nascent stages of development.
