(58,785 posts)and also just plain conservatives believe "fascism" is a bad word but have no real idea what it is. Certainly not that it's quintessentially archconservative in nature and in this era coming strictly from the political right.
They also have no idea that, while there is such a thing as left-wing fascism under forms of government called left wing, liberalism is very different and is inconsonant with fascism. They have no more idea than their cats that liberals are the world's big anti-fascists. Instead, they've been taught that Democrats and liberals intend to impose fascist government and that they have to stop us.
Trepidation, yes. I want to read Madeleine Albright's new book, Fascism: A Warning, but am waiting for the price to drop a bit more.
