" You did it. You won." [View all]

Jim Wright. Stonekettle Station......Small Victories.

You did it. You won.

You showed up, you voted, and you made a difference. Imagine that.

You've got Trump's attention this morning. You've punched through his smug, self-involvement and you've got his attention at last.

And he's scared shitless.

He is. Even Trump can see the writing on the wall this morning.

He won't admit it, of course, but he's shaken. He's bragging about the stock market and trying to declare political bankruptcy in the states where he lost so he can just walk away from responsibility. Predictable to the bitter end, is Donald Trump.

Trump lost last night.

But here's the thing, YOU haven't won.

Victory in Kentucky? Victory in Virginia? The small victories elsewhere? Yes, those are good things. You've punched a few holes in their lines but if you don't now pour through that opening IN FORCE, those small victories count for nothing.

Standing together matters.

Every vote matters.

You want to win? Then you have to put duty above self. You have to stand together, you have to show up IN FORCE, and you have to fight. Even if you don't want to, even if you don't get everything you want.

Because this isn't about you.

It's not about me.

It's not about party or some specific ideology.

It's about the future we want for our nation, for the world. It's about how history will remember us, that we WERE good citizens, that we were good allies to those less fortunate than ourselves, that we stood up and were counted when it mattered.

Enjoy these small victories today. You've earned it.

But know that it's not over. It'll never BE over. Liberty, freedom, justice, these battles can never end. There are always those who see these things as zero sums and they want more for themselves and none for you.

I called these small victories, and they are in the grand scheme of history.

But that's how battles are won, one small fight at a time. Today it's not just Trump who's shaken, it's those more shrewd of his allies who can see the smoke on their personal horizons.

These small victories are about more than just Virginia and Kentucky, they're a clarion call to those who would stand by Trump as his ship goes down.

Rats are cunning creatures, the first to flee when the waters rise. Today, you can bet they're looking to the lifeboats.

They're out in the light now. The rats. No longer hidden in the walls. Emboldened by Donald Trump.

And that is when they are most vulnerable.

Enjoy these small victories today, you've earned it.

But it's not over. It'll never be over.

After Trump, there will be another and another. There always is.

You have show up for every battle, no matter how small. Forever.

Win the battles, but the war will never be done.

The best you can hope for is to hold back the fall of night.

But maybe that's enough.
