There was always a risk that the rumor game surrounding 'Kate's' absence could be tragically off point [View all]

...it should have been evident to many adults that playing games with the private life of anyone is a sick and twisted thing to do, but so many participated in the tittering and prying.

I can guess that in the wake of the bracing reports that there still be some projecting their own callousness toward the lives of these individuals onto some antipathy against the 'royals' or some other anti-aristocratic revolutionary nonsense to justify a continuation of the personal hatred and ugliness behind that populist pablum.

Hyperbolic accusations and speculation about photo editing, or parsing terse statements from a family basically under siege of their own health struggles, is no excuse for the behavior of so many people in responsible positions treating the royals' private lives like there's some obligation of that family to prioritize parrying back and forth in response to their petty scandalizing over their own privacy needs.

We might wonder what has inspired people participating in all of that self-appointed animus and taunting of the recuperating royal to ignore their own fault-fraught lives and treat these humans like they're pieces on our individual chess boards, but the answer reveals itself when we're faced with the realization that human fragility and human suffering is universal in, well, humans.

It's a momentary distraction or deflection from our own pain, suffering, or struggles. The tearing at each other is just corrosive. That's all. Nothing more.

It all comes with an excuse, but it's just tearing at each other, and it has no end until the person deciding to participate it ends their own particiation in it.

The speculation about the well-being of Kate had value, up until it devolved into meanness, and further, when it became a conspiracy mill; and then, a bottomless pit of ugliness and hate.

We should all aspire to be better, do better.

One of the most unique things about humans is our capacity to be concerned about and care for each other. It's the most 'human' thing about us. We should embrace that and see how far it will get us.
