Look at the Code of Hammurabi, and that's the justice you'll see. It's reciprocity taken to the nth degree.
Also, justice depends largely on the social class of the offender and victim or victims.
I notice there's a lot here about inscriptions and the medium of the code, very little discussion of the content of the messages in it.
A very non-controversial approach that discourages actual thinking, the author takes the safe road, where we study "objects" and "mediums" and not actual messages.
