my new employer offers.

For people without insurance/with low health care needs it may be easier. But it was a time consuming option for us - because we had to check every drug on the formulary, and every current doctor. You may need to call both the insurance company, and your doctor - two of ours which are in the plan were not listed on the provider list. We have two medications which are either not covered or are covered at a much less reasonable price.

Then we looked back at our medical expenses for the past year - if you have current insurance, their website may be able to provide you with a detailed list which you can price on your new plan. It won't be exact, since the usual customary and reasonable amount isn't exactly the same from one company to the next - but it will be close.
