46. I wasn't thinking of WWI, but anti-German sentiment did heat up prior to our entry...

The reviving of sinking American merchant ships and the Zimmerman telegram pretty much did in any anti-war and pro German sentiments.

In some ways WWI was even worse than WWII.

But, silly us, we thought maybe both were so horrific that we would lose our taste for war.
