Something that will (hopefully) make you smile [View all]

My dad is in a nursing home, can't walk, and is suffering from dementia and likely early stages of Alzheimer's. Earlier today, my eight year old daughter and I went to visit him and the kid said something amazing, completely unprompted. "Grandpa, I am never going to give up because I know you never give up." Then she gave him a great big ol' hug. I haven't seen my dad with a great big smile like that for a long time. See, this kid is a very loving and gentle young lady and I am bursting with pride. Thank you for indulging me.
