Can We Stop Playing Pretend Now? [View all]

Seriously, GOP – enough is enough. And in this case, “enough” was already too much months ago.

We all understand that you feel duty-bound to keep slathering lipstick on the pig you elected. But we’re way past the point where anyone with an IQ above that of a houseplant is buying your schtick.

Can we stop pretending that Donald Trump has ever been “presidential” – ever? For the past six months, he has acted the bully, the buffoon, the mewling crybaby, the beyond-ignorant idiot who literally has NO idea what he’s talking about. His every statement is an embarrassment; his every action a humiliation to our country and its citizens.

Can we stop pretending that Trump is “intelligent”, or even street savvy? Can we dispense with this ludicrous pretence that he even possesses a modicum of common sense? Even your average houseplant knows better than to keep digging the hole they’re already planted in – and yet your Idiot Boy keeps “tweeting” himself further into the ground day after day. An “intelligent” man under investigation for what is now a myriad of potential crimes doesn’t spend his every waking hour tightening the noose around his own neck.

Can we stop pretending that the man who tweets “covfefe” and can’t find his own limo – parked right in front of his god-damned nose! – is mentally stable? Can we stop pretending that a man who insists on having his daily briefings shortened to bullet points rendered in Crayolas has the attention span necessary to govern a nation? Can we stop pretending that a man who doesn’t know the difference between an executive order and a bill actually understands the workings of our government, no less the responsibilities of his office?

Given the events of the past week – Idiot Boy’s public fellating of Putin, followed by the publication of Donnie Jr.’s emails – can we finally stop pretending that the accusations of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians is “fake news”? Can we drop this charade of pretending there’s no “there” there? After throwing our own intelligence agencies under the bus – repeatedly – Idiot Boy greeted the man responsible for tampering with our election process by saying, “It’s an honor to be with you,” while promoting the idea that we should cooperate with the very people who have attempted to undermine our democracy in order to – get this! – put an end to people attempting to undermine our democracy. Even that dumbass houseplant would be far too smart to suggest such a thing.

Come on, GOP. You read the same headlines we all do: “America no longer seen as world leader”, “USA’s global status in decline”. You’ve seen the same photos we have – Trumplethinskin isolated and alone while world leaders discuss global challenges amongst themselves, knowing that he’s not the least bit interested in anything other than his next golf game – fully aware that even if he were included in the conversation, the subject matter would be too far over his head for him to comprehend anyway.

Face it, Republicans. Your Idiot Boy has now proven beyond all doubt that he is a dumbass – and a treasonous dumbass at that. He has not only demonstrated his stupidity – he has, time and again, demonstrated his willingness to align himself with the foreign adversarial power that stands accused of cyber warfare against our country.

While you Republicans busy yourselves with important tasks – like taking healthcare away from millions of Americans in order to give more tax-breaks to the wealthy – can you at least agree to end the avalanche of bullshit? Can you at least stop pretending that a self-serving, narcissistic, dumb-as-shit, pathological liar is anything more than that? Can you – at the very least – stop insulting the intelligence of our countrymen, as well as the citizens of the world, by insisting that the blatantly obvious ISN’T BLATANTLY OBVIOUS?

Your continued insistence that Trump’s mouth is NOT – as Stephen Colbert so eloquently put it – “Putin’s cock-holster” has now been proven wrong. Your Idiot Boy sank to his knees and sucked-and-swallowed in front of the entire world. Your “Art of the Deal” whore proved that the only “deal” he’s interested in is selling-out his country to the man who made his illegitimate “pResidency” possible.

So just STOP. STOP pretending that the asshole you nominated, elected, and continue to support – the asshole who handed over classified information to the Russians while standing in the Oval Office – isn’t the treasonous bastard we all know he is. STOP pretending that he is intelligent, patriotic, or capable of understanding the duties of his office. STOP pretending that he has the common sense to stop digging the hole he’s already in – while using every piece of heavy-duty earth-moving equipment available to do so.

Playing pretend is fun when you’re an eight-year-old with a big cardboard box - something that, with a bit of imagination and creativity, can be transformed into a colonial fort, a medieval castle, or a remote Arctic outpost. But when you’re a nation who used to be the leader of the free world that has now been reduced to a soggy, rain-drenched pile of paper standing on the curb awaiting the garbage truck, playing pretend is just a sad reminder of what used to be.
