When Garth Brooks played a show near here when he was huge the line to get tickets was nuts. It was 1992 [View all]

and people were camped out and the line was around the block at our ticket outlet.

I wasn't interested in that show but a few weeks later Dire Straits tickets went on sale, and it was my mission to score for four of us. I knew it wouldn't be the madhouse it was for Garth tickets but expected to need to at least show up at zero dark 30.

I pulled in with my lawn chair and coffee at 3:30 and there was one guy there. I went back home and went back to bed. I sowed back up a little before they opened and walked right in with about five people.

It still amazes me there was that big of a difference. Dire Straits was huge too and it was a big deal that show coming to Washington State University at Pullman, WA. On previous tours those guys had never played a venue even close to that small.
