Once again it's deflection from the purpose of the restriction which was not to stop homicides, but suicides. That age group is already at or near the top of suicides so the restriction (which put such persons on the NICS list which can be appealed) was meant to save lives, not prevent murders.

Gunners will tell you that suicide is not gun violence. Considering that most suicides are discovered by loved ones I'd debate that. Besides that, if you have the opportunity to talk to a victim left behind by suicide the will debate that as well.

Don't think suicide by gun is violent? Do a google image search on 'gun suicide'. I dare you.
