Official Contest Rules, Day 1 ("Dreams From My Father")

No purchase or donation necessary to enter. Contest void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations governing such contests apply. Contest limited to legal residents of the U.S. who are at least 18 years of age. The sponsor of the contest is Democratic Underground, LLC, P.O. Box 53350, Washington, DC 20009. All individuals who donate to Democratic Underground, LLC, before the end of the contest will be automatically entered in the contest. Making a donation to Democratic Underground will not improve your chances of winning. To enter without donating, send an email with your name, address, phone number, and Democratic Underground username (if applicable), and the subject line "Dreams From My Father Contest" to admin@democraticunderground.com. Limit one email entry per person. All entries must be received by 10PM EDT (7PM PDT), Monday, May 11, 2009. Winner need not be present to win. Winner is responsible for all applicable taxes. The contest winner will be chosen at random. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. No substitutions or cash alternatives offered. The drawing will be held within 24 hours after the deadline to receive entries, and the winner will be notified on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, by email or by private message on the Democratic Underground website. The winner will also be announced publicly on the Democratic Underground website, identified either by their Democratic Underground username, or by their first name and the first initial of their last name if the winner is not a registered member of Democratic Underground. Each entry in the contest is eligible for only one chance for the prize. One prize will be offered, a signed copy of the book "Dreams From My Father," by Barack Obama. The approximate value of the prize is $250.00. This contest has not been approved or endorsed by Barack Obama. There will be additional contests on subsequent days, each with a different prize. Entering this contest does not enter you to win other contests. By participating, contestants release and agree to hold harmless Democratic Underground, LLC, and any of its directors, officers, employees and agents from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the contest or acceptance, possession, or any use of any prize. No warranties, express or implied, are created by entry except the award of a prize to holder of winning entry.
