The Cleveland PBS station censored Bill Moyers tonight.
They shut off the audio of his commentary at the end of the show.Shut it off when the segment started and on as soon as his commentary was over,Something about soldiers.I was working, so I couldn't pay much attention , but there were 2 TV's on where I was, both with WVIZ,Ch. 25,the Cleveland PBS station,on and no sound on both.

1. Well, shame on them!
This was the PBS station?

I thought they were above that sort of censorship!

Is this typical?

:grr:

4. Here is a link to Bill Moyers text and video -
"May 23, 2008

Sometimes in the rush to begin the summer with beachwear and barbecues we forget what Memorial Day is really all about — a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. It's also a time to remember those veterans around us. Take the weekend to use the Oral History Instructions provided by the National Archive and talk to a vet. Their story will be held in the National Archive Veterans Project.

Memorial Day is also a day to remember those currently in service and to support all vets and their families. Below you'll find some recent press coverage of the problems facing returning Iraq veterans, resources for vets and their families, and JOURNAL coverage of veterans stories and issues."

7. Apparently, the Cleveland PBS station manager doesn't want...
...the public to know that some veterans have post-traumatic stress disorder.

9. Did anyone think to check whether they were having audio problems?

Or was it a cable issue?

I know that occasionally, with the digital signals at least, the audio does occasionally drop.

Best bet would be to contact the station. Or look for a repeat, since public stations tend to rerun shows. If they really had hang-ups about Moyers' show, they wouldn't carry it in the first place.
