Neo-Cons are a bunch of Loonies
Oliver North spent an evening running through a suburban neighborhood
naked, waving his .45 automatic pistol and screaming, "I'm no good!"

"I am the federal government." --House Majority Leader Tom DeLay,
responding to a security guard who told him to extinguish his cigar.

What is Pat Robertson afraid of? Dictators? No. Death Squads? No. How about Civil Rights?
Robertson has used his position to oppose civil rights legislation,
such as the 1988 Civil Rights Restoration Action and the 1991 Civil Rights Act.
He termed the Civil Rights Act of 1985 "one of the most frightening pieces of
legislation that has been brought up."

4. Contradictions
It really suprises me how they are all screaming "small government" when Bush starts the Department of Homeland Security and Reagan starts the department of Veteran's Affairs. They must mean "small government, but only because it sounds good."

3. Don't forget the disciples of Leo Strauss
http://home.earthlink.net/~karljahn/Strauss.htm

Notable Straussians include Bill and Irving Kristol, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald and Robert Kagan. The younger Kristol and the younger Kagan co-founded the Project for a New American Century, the ideological backbone of the neoconservative movement.

http://www.alternet.org/story/15935

The elder Kagan wrote a famous three volume histoy of the Peleponnesian War. Not coincidentally, the original history of the war, by Thucydides, is a favorite text of the neoconservatives and, I have it on good authority, Kagan's one-volume condensation of his earlier work is recommended reading within the Office of Special Plans--also run by a Straussian, Abram Shulsky.

The neoconservatives particularly admire the amoral empire-building strategy of the Athenians, as described by Thucydides and Kagan.

But here's the punchline: Athens was utterly defeated in the Peleponnesian war, and never again ascended to the greatness it enjoyed prior to embarking on its expansionist, extortionist foreign policy.

That's right. American foreign policy is now controlled by an esoteric group of non-mainstream thinkers who wish to repeat the utterly amoral actions which led another world-dominating power to total ruin, some 2,500 years ago.
