New Record High Temperature In Budapest - AFP

Budapest saw record temperatures this week with the thermometer reaching 34.5 degrees Celsius (94.1 Fahrenheit), the national weather service said Wednesday.

The new record, reached at 1:00 pm (1100 GMT) on Tuesday, beat the previous high for the season of 33.6 Celsius (92.5 Fahrenheit) recorded in 1983.

also. Though, I suppose that makes sense since I'm halfway across RI from the CT border and it's exactly 27 miles (VBG) It's pretty hot out right now.

90 in may is unheard of. My elderly parents live with me and I'm dreading having to run the AC so soon. Dad has a heart condition and doesn't do well in the heat.

3. It sucks that you can't run a "swamp cooler" there due to humidity.

Those do an outstanding job in dry desert heat and are a lot cheaper than AC also.

4. I've been monitoring the weather in central Europe since I will

be traveling there in the Fall (OK, I'm a little obsessive) and I have noticed that it's been hotter than NYC almost regularly, which is extremely unusual. Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Munich, et al. have all been having a heat wave lately.

On a personal level, I hope it's not going to be a warmer than usual October - I really dislike it when the temperature goes above 70 F.
