51. Well, Michael Moore did call Bush "the fiction president..."
This is certainly proof of that!

Makes me wonder what else is Bush fictionalizing about?*

________
*Not really! Bush's rise to GOP stardom, as well as his whole life, is one big piece of fiction.

24. no surprise, they wanted a clean pic
and no matter how deceiving it is, they'll get what they want, except the desired election result!

This one got me, last night, my best friend and I went to see John Edwards at a rally here near Kennedy Space Center, and he told me about his nephew. His nephew was Army, signed up early last year and was about to be sent to Iraq in March of this year, but, like some young men do, got busted with a couple of his Army buddies doing drugs and drinking underage at a party. The thing is, they got busted, and were told they were going to be dishonorably discharged. Well they were, AFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTEEEEEERRRRRR they served a tour in Iraq first! None of them called any news media, nor did their family, or a lawyer for that matter. So, instead the Bushies sent these men over to die for a lie even though no matter how bravely they may serve the country, they were going to be dishonorably discharged when they returned. Fortunately, they all lived, and when they returned back on the ship to Hawaii for a 2 wk. break before going home, they were forced to stay on board because of their impending DD. Can you even begin to believe this SHIOT!

That's our military.

has at least as many soldiers as the doctored one:

So why would they cut out the part of the image with Bush in it.

My only conclusion is that it is not so much a doctored photo as one cropped to suit a particular purpose. I would not want this issue to distract us from the real issue which is that Bush is incompetent.

70. Much ado about nothing
Look, I detest Bush just as much as anyone on DU, but this is such a nothing issue. So some poor slob of a web master slightly altered a photo to create a colorful but basically vapid way to say "Click here".

So what?

The photo is filler, Bush was actually taken out, there was no intent to provide any information, so there wasn't any significant distortion of reality.

It's a BUTTON, for god's sake.

77. Sure ...
Of course it's much ado about nothing. But it's funny because that's what the Bush campaign constantly runs on. Kerry makes a comment and they make much ado about nothing. Which is what makes this some poetic justice.

Will it change any votes? Nah. But it certainly eats away from any GOPers trying to claim this is some kind of powerful ad! (Not that it stopped Chris Matthews from crowing that the Cheney "I never met you" lie was still a great line, but still.)

Taking too many pictures of a crowd wasn't much fun, so I had to get some shots of the VERY few dissenters in attendance. These bushies had taken a stroll through the crowd, and were treated somewhat harshly by the crowd. I mean, what did they expect? One man yelled at the woman on the right, and she freeking hauled off and slapped him in the face! Hard. He was stunned, but then just laughed at her. Were they arrested, or carted off? No.

Neither was the crazy woman with the large signs. She barely got any notice, poor girl :)

Just curious - seems to me you are fond of the bush*bots

95. Not true. Oh Jesus not true.
Yes, it may seem that way. They were just the most comical of the people in attendance. I have many pictures of average Kerryphiles like myself, but they're not as interesting as the shots of the brave wackos who turned out. Plus, my point and shoot digital camera was not at all adequate to capture the absolute IMMENSITY and energy of the crowd...

75. Doctored photo
Oh it's all so innocent (yeah right)

The area doctored was to "replace" a crop out of the jerk in chief - guess the didn't want to ruin the image by having Pres. "Didn't complete his service" amongst the troops.

The photo-shop job was done by an "overzealous" editor working for a company contracted by BS and Chicanery '04.

All they wanted was the photo cropped - assuming they wanted the shrubbery removed - so what did they expect a hole.

When asked why this photo - cuz we liked it?

Of course CNN is bending over backwards to "downplay" the fraud.

100. Yeah, send it to Letterman...
especially after he blamed the White House for causing CNN to accuse him of doctoring that video of the kid yawning behind Bush during a speech.

I'm sure he'd love the payback.

Sid

96. "Original" looks photoshopped too.
Looks like they cut and pasted Bush into the picture, then they realized how fake it looked. I believe the picture of Bush smack dab in the middle of a sea of soldiers is just as fake as the cloned soldier version.

But i think that is actually fake. If you go to chimps webpage, and look at the actual add, half of the soldiers in that image, aren't even in the frame of the add. sigh.
