If so, good.

13. Yes, I guess we knew the outcome beforehand,
but it's nice to see if anyone has courage. In this case, only Boxer and Kerry.

I saw a thread yesterday that said that Kerry would vote for her, I wonder how that person feels for trying to do that shit.

19. It doesn't even matter how that person feels.
Who cares? What counts is results. Kerry scores points for voting no. So does Boxer. That's what counts.

I didn't read the person you are talking about, but it could have been a "recent" visitor. Know what I mean?

9. ok 2 democrats did something right for a change.
it should have been a no brainer. she is not acceptable as sos. period. those who voted for her gave their approval of her and what bush has done and will do.

just like they gave approval for what has happened in iraq by voting for it either by denial or naivete.

In other words, Boxer & Kerry were the only two. How sad.

16. Biden said he would vote aye
...but only with FRUSTRATION and RESERVATION. His attitude is that the President has the right to pick his Cabinet, and he won't hold up the nitwit's choice absent any moral turpitude or overt criminality on the part of the candidate.

What this tells us is that the teflon is finally starting to flake off. Wish it had happened sooner.

20. If the president had the right to choose his Cabinet,
why would there be a senate confirmation process? Does Biden feel this is just a charade? If so, why waste the time?

36. I think he knows the deed is done
...even if most of the Senate Dems stood up, all they'd need is a few weasels like Zell and they'd have it. I think Biden just wants to let everyone know he is disgusted but is voting thumbs up just to keep the lines of communications with the Evil Empire open. But I guess you'd have to ask him to get his real sense of how he feels. I can't speak for him with any authority.

The Senate has a firm sense of their duty, but at the same time, they are all a CLUB OF ONE HUNDRED. They all look at each other as potential rivals for the PRESIDENCY, and they have this odd attitude when it comes to privilege and authority. They draw a wider line when it comes to Cabinet appointments, because they don't last forever. Judges are a little different.

If you're really "frustrated" and "reserved", don't vote to confirm, you spineless idiot.

She's lied under oath repeatedly and she has a record of consistent failure. Biden was wrong and his justification for his vote made no sense to me.

18. That's a scary thought
but I'm not convinced. I know they were yapping about how a President deserves the cabinet he wants and bla bla bla bla bla, but the bitch was going to be confirmed anyway. I hope they don't really approve of her. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Their reasoning was still idiotic, though.

22. It's called politics.
They don't necessarily vote how they feel. Sometimes if a vote result will be overwhelmingly one way, they vote that way to preserve their base that feels that way. Sometimes if a vote result will be overwhelmingly one way, they vote the other to prove a point ("see, I risked voting the other way, don't you approve"). Politicians don't always vote what they truly wish would happen because it's all a game (with serious consquences of course), but can be part of a bigger thing. Politics. bah

23. because Kerry and Boxer are already gonna be ostracised
by the Repug majority. They had nothing to lose in voting their conscience. In order to get anything done and keep viability in their office, all Dems on the Committee couldn't vote against Rice.
She was going to be confirmed no matter what any Dem voted. It was a great opportunity for Dems to publicly bring to light the failings of the Bush administration and the distorted half truths given to Congress and the American people to get them in this damned mess of a war. I thought it all went really well. Boxer, Biden, and Kerry were contentious enough with enough soundbites that could be carried by the MSM.

32. Democrats Could Delay Rice Confirmation in Full Floor Debate
It appears that Kerry and Boxer are working their magic with Senate leaders on the confirmation of Condoleezza Rice. NBC News via MSNBC is reporting that “Democrats planned to delay her widely expected confirmation by the full Senate.”

No offense to Kerry. I'm glad he voted no but what are 2 no votes? As a Senior Member of the Senate, could he not have persuaded a few others to follow suite? Where are the other Senior members of the Senate? Mute? Dead? Sleeping? They can't band together and hold tight?

They can't do an ABC for us?

Thank you to Kerry and Boxer- but damn... Damn the other Democrats. Damn them.
