Hey, media and others; Clinton and Spitzer did not preach "family values"
nor pointing the fingers at others who cheated.

It is the hypocrisy. Gingrich, and Sanford, and Foley, and Craig and the rest of them. Going around feeling oh so smug and superior, carrying their "faith" feeling "moral" superiority above the rest of us while at the same time conducting extra marital affair.

1. Spitzer was the biggest hypocrite of them all
This guy used to bust up prostitution rings and preached about their evils. Then he started using them!

3. But with Spitzer it was not about 'faith' and 'morality' - it was about
breaking the law.

And besides, how else would he get the good phone numbers?

12. Actually, it was more about prosecuting people for doing almost exactly what Spitzer himself did
Something of a character flaw, IMO.

5. I don't think you'll get a lot of traction with that one.
It's pretty hard to make the case that Spitzer wasn't a hypocrite. You can't go around preaching law and order when you're breaking the law.

7. Yeah, I suppose you are right
Earlier on CNN they kept running that clip "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" and emails from viewers who say that Clinton did not resign then why should Sanford.

And on right wing board someone was trying to "compare" this hypocrisy with the Democrats who did not pay their taxes but claim that this is a "moral obligation." Big difference, I told them.

9. But where was the hypocricy?
President Clinton did not spout off every chance he got about the "family values" and the morals of everyone else. He did not try to shove religion down everyone's throats. Sanford did. Gingrich did. etc. etc.....

11. Be careful of the shoving things down throats metaphor on this one!
Just sayin'. Monica might beg to differ.

13. And clinton did not walk away from his job for a week and leave everyone
wondering where the fuck he was when he should have been on duty.

There is really no comparison.

8. Don't know much about him, but, no doubt, it fits the pattern
especially with dreams about the White House.

10. Ensign's a Pentecostal and a big anti-gay-marriage finger wagger.
I know him well enough from years ago in college that I am laughing about him 24/7.

14. You forgot Bobs Smith, Barr, and Livingston, Henry Hyde, Helen Chenoweth, David Vitter...
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 01:52 PM by Barrymores Ghost
...Joey Scarborough, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the entire male Bush clan, Ronald Reagan (who was bonking Nancy while married to Jane Wyman), Bill Bennett, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggert, Jim Bakker, Billy Graham (who liked French whores), and the list goes on and on and on.

The lot of them, phoney moralists and hypocrits and shameless philanderers.
