Rafael Izquierdo answers questions from Florida Department Children & Families attorney Jason Dimitris during the juvenile dependency hearing.

On the third day of his testimony, Rafael Izquierdo got grilled Monday on his sex life.

On the witness stand for more than 20 hours over three days, Izquierdo was asked Monday to name all the women with whom he had ever been ''intimate.'' A malanga and pig farmer from Cabaiguan in Central Cuba, Izquierdo is in a downtown Miami courtroom seeking custody of his 5-year-old daughter.

Opposing him is the Florida Department of Children & Families and the Guardian-ad-Litem Program in Miami. Attorneys for the agencies say Izquierdo is unfit to raise the girl because, among other things, he allowed her to emigrate to the United States with a mother he knew was emotionally unstable.

During questioning by Shelby Tsai, an attorney with the law firm Hogan & Hartson who is representing the guardian program, Izquierdo was peppered with queries about the women with whom he married or had been intimate with in Cuba.

1. For people who haven't read all the articles, the mother has testified she didn't tell
people in Cuba she had crashed in the U.S., as she didn't believe anyone would believe that she had hit the bottom and was absolutely destitute.

It may be she didn't know how to explain to them how it was the U.S. government (taxpayer derived) food stamps, Section 8 housing, welfare, etc., etc., etc. which is offered to all Cubans who make it here to this country had been taken away from her, after her husband left her almost immediately after they all arrived at the airport from Cuba.

At any rate, she didn't tell anyone back home she was ruined, and desperate. If they didn't know this, how could they have helped? From anything they would have guessed, she was just fine.

"Just fine" would mean there's no reason a man would believe the mother of his child, starting a new life with her new husband would want him butting in. The lawyers from DFC and Joe Cubas, the man attempting to get control of her are bearing down on this Cuban father as if he is a criminal for wanting his child back with him, rather than growing up in the home of a complete stranger.

It's a pity. I really hope the father wins his chance to raise his own daughter.

2. Those Opus Dei Cubans in Florida are anti-family, anti-children, and are kidnappers
What a filthy bunch! They are the same motherfuckers that want to "liberate" Cuba by bringing the same American "freedom and democracy" that America has imposed on Iraq.

3. More of the shrewd, brilliant questioning from the DFC lawyer:
~snip~
''You had at least three intimate relationship?'' Tsai asked.

''Yes. Married like that. Yes,'' Izquierdo replied.

''Apart from , have you had intimate relationships with any other women?'' Tsai asked.

''That I remember, I have not had any other intimate relationships,'' Izquierdo answered.

When Tsai persisted, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jeri B. Cohen interrupted.

''Is there a point to this?'' the judge asked.

''Impeachment, your honor,'' Tsai said.

''If he went out with other women and had sex with them, I don't care,'' the judge said. ``Quite frankly, if you go out and look at everybody who's had sex with everybody, you are going to have to take a lot of kids away.

''You're going to have to take a lot of kids away, and we won't have places to keep them all,'' she continued. ``People have sex, and they lie about it, as we all know.''
(snip)
This is so sad.

4. How the HELL is this question relevent?
I don't care if he brought a different woman to his bed every fucking night, as long as she is legal age, and he has the means, still, to take care of the kids, and isn't spending himself into the poorhouse for women, I don't see how this is the business of any court.

5. Who the FUCK is the DFC lawyer? Ken Starr???
Personally, if asked "how many women have you been 'intimate' with?"...I'd be sorely tempted to reply "obviously, a lot more than you."

:spank:

6. Question for DU'ers: This thread was sent to a state forum, away from LBN.
I believe it has NATIONAL value, considering it is because of our NATIONAL POLICY that this man is being treated like a criminal, instead of a man attempting to gain custody of HIS OWN DAUGHTER, to take her back to her home, which is the wish of HER OWN MOTHER, who has stated this for a very long time, even at the expense of her social standing among people with whom she worked back in Florida, who turned against her, persecuted her, which drove her to Houston, Texas, to try to find work and a place to live.

The U.S. Government (which extends the generosity of ALL U.S. taxpayers to ordinary Cubans who come here, through giving them food stamps, instant legal status, welfare, Section 8 HOUSING, financial medical treatment, etc., etc., etc.) suddenly withdrew support from the mother, leaving her destitute, with nowhere to turn, and that's where she was when she couldn't go on, as she thought, and called the police, told them she couldn't take care of her children, and went through the motions of slitting her wrists.

I see this as a NATIONAL STORY, of NATIONAL INTEREST, as it involves us all, through the abuse of our own national policy, which has been driven by the right-wingers among us, the racists in Congress, like Jesse Helms, Tom DeLay, Dan Burton, the Spanish Cuban "exiles" in Miami and New Jersey, etc., etc. who used to support the U.S. puppet, murderous dictator Fulgencio Batista, who BOMBED HIS OWN PEOPLE with U.S. weapons, and enlisted the C.I.A. in torturing dissidents in Havana, etc.

This is far, far more than a "local" story. Does anyone agree?

I sent an alert to the moderator, after he/she moved this article to the States forum. What else can I do, to get this decision altered, so I can post more of these trial articles and hope they'll be allowed to run where I believe they belong?

Thank you.

This is DEFINITELY a late breaking news story of national significance since this kind of crap would probably not happen if the man wasn't Cuban.

I've posted an alert too...

8. So glad to see your comment. As long as these right-wing nutballs, whether they are in
Miami, or in New Jersey, or New York, or in Los Angeles, or the small group in Houston, can keep U.S. citizens from flying to Cuba, or from even getting in a sailboat and sailing there, as Americans have done during the terms of more mature, more intelligent U.S. Presidents, like Jimmy Carter, and even Bill Clinton, without fearing they would be thrown in jail and charged horrenous fines, I have to consider US/Cuban matters NATIONALLY IMPORTANT.

They have STOLEN our right to travel to Cuba, to speak to real Cubans, and find out what the hell is going on there, without running the risk of retribution by the U.S. Government, which posts FBI agents in the airports in Canada to check the passenger manifests to determine which incoming and outgoing travellers to Cuba just might be Americans, so they can arrest them, like enemies of the state.

It's always so good to see your comments on Cuba. Thanks.

9. Try General Discussion: Political or General Discussion
Both are for national interest articles.

10. Thanks for the idea. I just combined the last 3 articles and posted them in G.D.
Hope more DU'ers will get a chance to see it.

They are deliberately trying to keep this entire event very low-key, hoping they can get a result that will be more to their liking than the Elián Gonzalez outcome was!

Thanks.
