Karen Thurman's Word: "Non-Negotiable"
A nasty hail storm which also downed trees and power lines didn't keep 30 or so loyal Central Florida Democrats away from Room 3 Nine last night to hear Karen Thurman speak. As one might expect, her impassioned words turned quickly to the presidential preference primary. She expressed her empathy with everyone's frustration and said that her view on having all of the Democratic candidates on the ballot come January 29, "Non-negotiable."

She added that her communication with the DNC has been explicit on the point that anything short of a full primary on that date is "disrespectful of Florida voters."

From day to day, I struggle to track this important situation but I can assure you that Representative Thurman understands what we want and is fighting hard for just that.

1. She is waging a battle against her own party, as is Nelson.

2. I Remain Optimistic
I told Mrs. Thurman that I joined the Democracy Bonds program at its inception. I haven't regretted it one bit. What's more, Nate Jenkins is one of the FDP's coordinators whose salary is funded by Democracy Bonds.

In short, while I see your point, we are at the cusp of sweeping victories this cycle and ours party's leaders are smart enough to find an accommodation. I am convinced that it's only a matter of time.

3. Florida lied about the DNC
and used Dean as a scapegoat.

There will be no reconciliation without honesty.

7. "on the cusp"
Ms. Thurman has been selling that line of BS for years. SHE was going to stop Jeb. SHE was going to stop Jeb again. SHE was going to stop Crist. SHE was going to make sure Betty received a fighting chance.

I don't think Ms. Thurman can do anything right. It's sad that as a result of her losing her seat in Congress the powers that be decided to reward her years of service with leading the Florida Democrats. As if all the money she gets in her pension isn't reward enough, as if she NEEDS to get some sort of reward for doing what any of us here consider to be a duty.

Draft Bob Graham for Florida!

4. Get real
How is it allegedly disrespectful of florida voters to suggest that florida is actually obligated to follow the rules established governing the primaries?

5. Municipal And Constitutional Amendment Connection
The disrespect comes from the fact that many cities have moved their election from March to this new January date in order to save money. They will suffer low turn-outs if they think that the presidential vote is worthless. Of equal importance is the constitutional amendment which will appear. Republicans favor its passage so they will have an automatic advantage if Democrats stay home.

6. Thats BULL
So the Rest of the Country is obligated to change the rules that the Florida Dems agreed to and voted on for the convenience of the Florida Dems or else they are "disrespecting" them?

BULL

Whats next the Florida Dems going to threaten a lawsuit against the DNC unless the winner of the Florida primary is automatically declared winner of the nomination regardless of the rest of the country. I am soo sick of winy Florida Dems.
