Just rec'd this email: Progressive Talk Radio comes to Baton Rouge
PROGRESSIVE TALK RADIO ARRIVES IN BATON ROUGE!
Thanks to a petition effort that topped 1,000 signatures, Clear
Channel has agreed to switch one of its Baton Rouge stations to a
progressive talk format. Smart and funny hosts will start telling
the Capitol City the truth on Tuesday, July 12th, at 6 A.M. (unless
hurricane outages push back the launch). Set your radio dial to AM
1380, WYNK-AM, to start your day with Morning Sedition, followed by
Jerry Springer, Al Franken, Ed Schultz and Randi Rhodes.

The launch will make WYNK-AM the first progressive talk radio station
in the entire Deep South. If the format succeeds in Baton Rouge,
Clear Channel will consider switching stations in New Orleans,
Shreveport, Lafayette and elsewhere.

We're counting on grassroots support from progressives to make the
new format a resounding success. Please set your radio dial to AM
1380 and share the news that Al Franken and other truth-telling hosts
will hit the Baton Rouge airwaves on AM 1380 next week.

From the Louisiana Coalition of Independent Media (don't know if they have a website or not)

2. Ann-Can we get 1380 over here?
I really hope so. I'm so tired of the Lafayette stations. The only bright spot in my radio day is KANE 1240 from 10:00AM - 1:00PM with Jeff Boggs. He HATES the Bush Administration, and makes no bones about it....he dogs them whenever he gets the chance (which is frequently!)BTW - did you read the Donna Greco column (rant) about the Supreme Court in yesterday's Advertiser? The thought of that woman being a teacher is frightening! I find it disgusting that the Advertiser has this woman as a "guest" columnist.

Kinda doubt we'll be able to pick up the Baton Rouge station over here, but maybe on a clear, clear night? Our best hope is that a Progressive Talk Radio station comes to Lafayette. Have been thinking about satellite radio for my car, but sure don't want another monthly bill! I listen to AAR on my computer every day....even sneak in a little bit at work. No, didn't read the rant about SCOTUS, but will check to see if it is in the online edition. I refuse to take either the Advertiser or the Abbeville Meridional. They are so brazenly biased that I refuse to support them with my $$$. (I feel like a hypocrite every time I check the Advertiser online!)

Do you have Lafayette cable? From their emails, I think they will be bringing Democracy Now with Amy Goodman to one of the community channels. Our Abbeville cable (even tho it is also with Cox) has no community channel, so I won't be able to watch it, darn! (But, I listen to her every morning on the computer anyway.) Am enjoying watching Al Franken every night on the Sundance Channel tho.

On your recommendation, I listened to the program of your friend, but on those particular days, they were only talking about local meetings, so didn't hear anything that excited me over here in Abbeville!! I also sent him some news tips, don't know if he used them or not.

Boy, we really escaped a big storm this time, didn't we? Whew!
