Joe Muer's seafood to return to the Motor City
Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 05:20 PM by marmar
from the Detroit Free Press:

Promising to create Detroit’s top restaurant, Andiamo Restaurant Group owner Joe Vicari announced today that he will open a new restaurant in the former Seldom Blues space in the Renaissance Center under the name Joe Muer Seafood.

Accompanying Vicari at the announcement in the RenCen was Joe Muer himself, the restaurateur who ran his family’s legendary eatery on Gratiot Avenue until closing it in 1998.

Muer said that Andiamo’s is buying the name, logo, recipes, and other rights to Joe Muer Seafood and putting up the money for the new restaurant. The two men will be partners on a new cookbook and related ventures. “It’s the new old,” Muer said.

Vicari noted that the new venture will be Andiamo’s 21st restaurant, and that the new restaurant will cost about $1 million to set up and is aiming for a September opening. It will employ 100 to 150 people. .............(more)

2. Hmmm..... I wonder if they sold the Andiamo Restaurant on the Nautical Mile
to have enough capital for this new restaurant?

I bet this will eat into the business at Tom's Oyster Bar on Jefferson too.

Very interesting though, thanks for the post.
