A few points on Dan Choi. First, he should be recommissioned immediately.
It bothers me that he has to re-enter the military at an enlisted rank.

I read the thread that had several folks complain about his slam on the POTUS (I cannot post in that thread as I have the OP on ignore, and had to logout to read it). I have two thoughts on that. First, as former military myself, the folks who pointed out that this is an issue are right in one sense. You are never supposed to say anything public about anyone in your chain of command, but particularly the President.

That said, this should be overlooked/forgiven in Choi's case given the circumstances.

We should be all writing the Army and the members of the armed services committees that he should be recommissioned.

They do not have to take you just because you volunteer.

5. He was a member of the NY National Guard when he was kicked out

it was a panel of NY National Guardsmen who made the decision. The regular Army owes him nothing - he voluntarily left it in 2008.
