Gay Activists to Protest Chick-Fil-A Opening in Hollywood
http://www.towleroad.com/2011/09/gay-activists-to-protest-chick-fil-a-opening-in-hollywood.html

A new Chik-Fil-A restaurant is opening at 6750 W. Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Saturday, and activists angry over the company's anti-gay policies will be there for it:

Bring your own signs, banners, and flyers to educate the public of the virulently anti-gay policies and donations of this bigoted corporation. They actively suppress gay rights and the rights of anyone who isn't Right-wing Christianist. A coalition of LGBT people, gay rights organizations, animal rights organizations, and other progressive, fair-minded organizations and people are forming a coalition to protest this store making MILLIONS in OUR community for their bigoted "cause". Come one, come all - and STAND UP FOR JUSTICE, DIGNITY, and EQUALITY!!

Some background here.

2. I'll be there! I HATE that they're opening at that location
especially since it's immediately diagonal to Hollywood High School, which means they will have a built in audience for their fundy bullshit.

3. Who the hell KNEW? They're Crazed Christian Chicken Chuckers!!!!!!
I had no idea....then again, I've never eaten at one of 'em and had only heard of them in passing. No idea if their product is tasty or healthy or what-have-you.

But DAMN!!! They're hateful, aren't they?

I have to wonder why they 'care' so much? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt?

New Yorkers have sprinted through the airport here to grab one between flights. College students returning home stop for one even before they say hello to their parents.

But never on Sunday, when the chain is closed.

Nicknamed “Jesus chicken” by jaded secular fans and embraced by Evangelical Christians, Chick-fil-A is among only a handful of large American companies with conservative religion built into its corporate ethos. But recently its ethos has run smack into the gay rights movement. A Pennsylvania outlet’s sponsorship of a February marriage seminar by one of that state’s most outspoken groups against homosexuality lit up gay blogs around the country. Students at some universities have also begun trying to get the chain removed from campuses.. Truett Cathy, the founder, is an 89-year-old, Harley-riding Southern Baptist who opened a small diner near the Atlanta airport 1946. He closed the business on Sundays because he was a churchgoer...Because the company remains privately held — his two sons run it — it can easily keep its faith-based principles intact. The company’s corporate purpose is, in part, “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.”

4. The is not good, expensive, and I don't like they close on Sundays
Umm. NONE of their employees "worship" on Saturdays, read Sabboth is Saturday for Jews? Their employees are all CHRISTIAN? Don't like that one, besides just the basic food stuff.

5. i quit buying their food years ago when i found out they are fundies.
i also boycotted domino's because of their radical catholic roots. i don't think the uber catholic who founded domino's still owns the company, but i have not had a domino's pizza in 20 years. i guess he sold the place so he could found his catholic city in central florida.

i will continue to boycott chik-fil-a.

6. Whenever I explain to people why I don't like Chik-Fil-A I get funny looks.
And it's certainly not because of their food, I refuse to support them because they donate to the worst, bigoted hateful fundie groups imaginable like the AFA. Anyone who supports groups like the AFA and their ilk doesn't get my support.

7. Excuse my ignorance
But what are the horrible policies?

"They actively suppress gay rights and the rights of anyone who isn't Right-wing Christianist."

That to me doesn't really spell it out.
