Can anyone here link me up to a weight/height chart so I can
see if my mother is nagging me about my weight just a little too much. I'm 5' 5 1/2" tall and currently weigh 138 lbs. Is that so bad?

1. According to this chart, you're perfect!
http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

A lot of people may be at normal weight or even below normal weight and still not match someone's notion of an ideal figure. I was undeerweight in high school, but very large boned (seriously! I'm 5' 1 3/4" tall, but my wrist measures at 6 3/4": http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/17182.htm) Think hobbit as opposed to elf! Here's a link to help you match frame size to optimal weight:http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/17182.htm

I still have the same frame I had in high school, but I can't blame it for how I look now. Now I'm just plain too heavy. I wish I'd appreciated my body size back then!

3. Anything under 130 and you'd be pushing it at that height.
And don't let your mother stress you over it. My ideal weight is considerably above what the height/weight charts say. They want me at 180-ish at 6'2", but in high school when I dipped to 235 I barely had a "pouch". 20 more pounds and I would have been home free. I'm not just big boned, I'm huge boned. Maybe you're just big boned too? :)

Oh, and I just remembered, my mom was 5'4" and stayed at 129 +/- 5 for most of her life. So there you go.
