Today's signing news: Keller to Fuham; Denilson to Dallas
Thoughts? Can a 39 year old Keller, coming off being cut by a relegated bundesliga team, thrive at Craven Cottage? How many more over the hill yanks can Fulham sign?

and what ever happened to Denilson? All that promise, how'd he end up playing in Saudi Arabia at 29, and be out of contract there? Sounds like a bad attitude to me, maybe not the best of ideas for MLS?

1. Keller at Fulham will be OK
Not like you have to be 23 to play keeper...He's got the experience to be OK...

Denilson's done though...You can't play in the field at 30...at least not in top-flight.

MLS has a way to go before I'm sold on it...

Too much emhasis on the "packaging"...If MLS wants to really succeed it needs to have multiple divisions at lower levels and local rivalries...

e.g. San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose etc...
Fort Worth, Dallas
Houston, San Antonio, Austin
Kansas City MO, Kansas City KS
New York, New Jersey etc...

2. who said MLS was top flight?
it is obviously not (although there are plenty of 30 year olds playing the field in top flight leagues and top flight teams, Real Madrid won La Liga last season starting three 30 or over midfielders (Becks, Guti, Emerson) Denilson, of course, is not in that class.

mulitple divisoins for MLS will never happen. There is no tradition in the US for that, either. After all, baseball, football and basketball do just fine without derbies. USL 1 and 2 can help with the lower level developmental issue. it doesn't need to be a top 3 spot, sitting at number 4, and growing, is a pretty good start for a 12 year old league.

and if you like the sport, find an MLS club to support. Sure, it isn't EPL, or La Liga, the level of play just isn't that good, but still, it can be an entertaining package (did you see the Superliga final last night? have you been to a rivalry game, Galaxy/Chivas, Red Bulls/United?) it's like living in a city with a minor league baseball team, sure, it ain't the majors, but it's all you got, so support it anyway. you just might like it (and of course, the more supporters, the more money there is to spend improving things.

4. BTW...I didn't mean to infer that MLS was top-flight
which is why Denilson is playing here in the States.

I used to go to the Quakes games in San Jose many years ago but the crass commercialization of the game in the US is a total turn-off.
