and material effect on our economy. You want an answer to the undocumented entry of Mexican citizens into the United States, you're looking at it.

Not to mention, most progressives understand how small this planet is and how human rights violations and social justice or injustice have a habit of migrating quite rapidly.

16:35 <@brie> are able to have control of their governmant
16:35 <@brie> the are tired of being lied to, expoited
16:36 <@brie> Ruiz has to account for millions of pesos that he has spent in the past 2 years
16:36 <@brie> it's not only Oaxaca that's hungry - the entire country has been ransacked for years
16:36 <@brie> People are looking for work and there are no resources
16:37 <@brie> The people are fed up that the government has liscence to kill, to lie
16:37 <@brie> We want the education of 300,000 children
16:37 <@brie> why can't they provide classed, education>
16:37 <@brie> because this is not their priority
16:38 <@brie> Lastly, citizens of the oaxaca nd the world, cause this going all over the owrld - this the hour
16:40 <@brie> This is not the time to abandon our brothers and sisters

12. More From Radio APPO Universidad
Although, some of you are still half asleep - open your godamn eyes
17:21 <@brie> Citizens - I invite you to reflect, to struggle, and to come to the barricades
17:21 <@brie> Why? because in the place where we didn't have barricades, this is where the forces of corruption entered
17:22 <@brie> I want to say hello to the people taht are out there, supporting this struggle, out there in the barricades, in the marches - you all have been with us
17:22 <@brie> We will shout out in the air taht we have won
17:23 <@brie> We will start new projects for work that will benefit everyone
17:23 <@brie> You all know that truly, this is what we want to do
17:23 <@brie> We will reconstruct what they have destroyed
17:24 <@brie> this isn't is the job that we want, but as consious people, this is what we have to do to
17:24 <@brie> So, I invite the people in neighboring places to join our stuggle
17:24 * luna yo brie- go go go go :)
17:25 <@brie> Professors that are at home, those with out jobs, all of those that are at home resting
17:25 <@brie> waiting for us to win
17:25 <@brie> come into this fight!
17:25 <@brie> we have to win all together
17:25 <@brie> also I want to say to the people with jobs
17:26 <@brie> those that are in oaxaca they know very well what the situacion is
17:26 <@brie> many of them are also poor that have recived government salaries
17:26 <@brie> these shit wages don't reach what they need to to pay for everything you need
17:27 <@brie> the government wants theese people to be quiet, to not have time to speak up
17:27 <@brie> speak up! React!
17:27 <@brie> The laws are not made for us - the laws are made for those in power - reflect please - how many are
17:27 <@brie> swimming in ignorance and poverty??
17:28 <@brie> There is a huge ignorance about what is happening in Oaxaca, it is everyone
17:28 <@brie> so, one more time, please reflect
17:28 <@brie> step up -
17:28 <@brie> we are exploited
17:29 <@brie> we need to understand taht it's in the air, the sun, the cold
17:29 <@brie> when these people are there in their nice hotels with good foos
17:29 <@brie> food
17:29 <@brie> Enough of this - enough of the governor filling thier purses on our backs
17:29 <@brie> As long as there is misery, there will be protests
17:30 <@brie> Reflect please - on our force as a people
17:30 <@brie> what kind of sadness do we live in when fathers have to leave their houses because of bombs going off?
17:31 <@brie> take advantage of this to denounce this to the commission on human rights
17:31 <@brie> because cameras didn't capture everything
17:31 <@brie> they don't care if they kill kids, whoever
17:31 <@brie> so, I yell out - any person who has any problem, we've seen some we can't fix, tell it directly to the government
17:32 <@brie> what can we hope for from these government people??
17:32 <@brie> we have to look to the power that we have in our hands
17:32 <@brie> Today Oaxaca has stood up to fight the oppressor!
17:32 <@brie> Reflect please, join this struggle
17:32 <@brie> thank you for letting he express this - good luck
17:33 <@brie> Thank you for your words - hopefull many people have heard this messege

19. Wanting a Better Life is Not a Crime
This is all that the people in Oaxaca want. It doesn't mean that they are "commies" or something. They just want *a better life*. They want their hopes & dreams to come true, just like anyone else. I am so sick of how rich, comfortable people just can't seem to grasp this.

From Oaxaca Study Action Group @ Yahoo groups:

he Sec of Communication has interferred in the signal of Radio
Universidad, so for reasons of security the signal has been seperated
between AM and the internet. They are looking for an expert in AM
broadcasting, to overcome the interference. There is no danger right
now at the University.

photo report Radio Universidad
http://indymedia.nl/nl/2006/11/40223.shtml

An Italian activist (pic3) has been beaten by the PFP, who is hunting for international media reporters.

The other pics show bullet holes in the radio dish and a lamp with two bullet wholes.

This shows how they try to take Radio Universidad out of the air.

(its in Dutch, but with this transaltion, it will do)

32. Once they can isolate and silence international journalists, they will be free
to wade in and slaughter the protesters and the rest of the world will never know. Very right-wing-thinking of them, isn't it?

Some people don't realize what is lost if violent suppression is allowed to succeed here.

33. The only dissent allowed anywhere, will have to be that of the American Revolutionaries.
And the only American dissent will have to be that which is well in the past, loooooong before we got here.

Any dissent WHILE we are here is strictly forbidden under extreme penalty of law. The right-wing guys on top are going to be covered in everything they can possibly imagine they want to do, with no expressed opposition, with the force of the American military to protect them. That will last at least as long as we live.

This extends to all the puppet governments in place throughout the rest of the world. Everyone else is fair game, but only to the the right-wing leaders of this country.

35. I'd----luerve---to not-kick your threads on this topic, but you've mischaracterized
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 07:56 PM by UTUSN
my position in saying that I disapprove of "this struggle." I am FOR SELF-determination of people in their own country, and am against VIOLATION OF SOVEREIGNTY, whether by Shrub OR by CHEERLEADERS FOR VIOLENCE, which is what I see in these threads, where I believe the blood being shed will be by the poorest, most vulnerable segment of that country.

As for kicking-the-thread, it's still near the top of page 1 for now, so I'm taking the opportunity to point out your mischaracterization. But this leads me to believe that your reading ME wrongly leaves you open to reading much larger issues, like this topic, wrongly.

As for your asking me to skip your threads, I've done that once with somebody and was called a name that got deleted. But actually, I *do* respect some idealists, like Judi Lynn, and have actively stayed out of threads such as the ones wishing CASTRO good health. So I don't rain on SOME parades, even while disagreeing, but it's hard when I see multiple threads with questionable interpretations on some topics like this one, or by another poster on agreeing with Minutemen about the border.

To your other partisans who are alleging (my?) wanting to "cover up" this topic, I call B.S. As I've said in some of the previous threads, over months, the reading of Mexican politics being presented is JUST WRONG. Going back to the Mexican elections, the PAN is not an ultra-wingnut party, it represents a spectrum of what passes for middle-class in Mexico ranging up beginning with the working poor to the nearly-Middle to the fringes of the ultra rich. European observers did not not find fraud in the election sufficient to change the results.

Vicente FOX turned down Shrub in the Iraq Attack precisely on the grounds of violation of sovereignty, which Mexico has EVERY right to be paranoid about. And bottom line I'm calling VIOLATION OF MEXICAN SOVEREIGNTY *both* to Shrub and to anybody cheerleading for violence OVER THERE. And FOX has shown tremendous restraint in attempting to avoid force in working out the Oaxaca situation. I'll try to resist posting in these threads, but will when massive distortion is being put out there. S'long.

P.S. (on edit): Here's what another DUer said when I thanked him for the civility of his response to my disagreeing with him:

Incidently, you are entitled to your views as I am to my views, and I WOULD NEVER FLAME YOU FOR THAT

No need to say thanks, that is what an exchange of ideas is about. .... Incidently, I have also been flamed pretty bad myself when I took a position against Castro and Chavez

29. The greatest barricade resistances in human history
The Hungarian revolt was highly touted in the Mccarthy era of course because it defied the Soviet Bloc. Tanks were cocktailed by the dozens, the repression more violent and with complete impunity. The French Commune barricades and all Parisian uprisings were eventually quelled.

This time the government is hun g on the horns of a dilemma. The required brutality to crush a widespread public uprising is in the realm of a crime against humanity. Replacing their crooked crony is probably impossible except with an army surrounding him 24/7, violence or no violence. The regional revolt on the other hand is under siege and not spread to the nation.

Therefore the government should realize compromise is the way to resolve things and everything else waste and growing defeat for the regime and its shrinking(were it possible) legitimacy and moral stature. All the uplift and the passion goes to the defenders, the people. All the shame and blame to the so-called government of these same people.

Compare this to the "glory" and inspiration of the PNAC zealots and what they have prooduced and how the vast majority of humanity is forever turned against them, passing the test with more heroic character than any of the powerful could muster- ever- any day in their miserable useless lives.

31. thanks for the post
However much people here care about electing this messiah or that one, it's great to see the people of Mexico standing up and doing the job THEMSELVES.

We could learn some lessons from them.

It's funny how there is a major leftwing uprising on our very borders, and for the most part, the people here remain silent about it, too caught up in elections to worry about regular people putting their lives on the line to make a change.

But that's okay, I'm totally cool with having the same arguments and watching a bunch of suits have these painful debates trying not to offend anybody for the past six years while these fucks are murdering by the tens of thousands and taking away our rights at home...
