The Dixie Chicks are favored to win album of the year at the Grammys tonight in spite of the right wing smear attacks against them for having the audacity to, gasp!, criticize President Bush. Their songs are no longer played on many mainstream radio stations and there was a coordinated attack to destroy their careers.

They have survived and put out a great album that will be honored tonight.

I can't wait to hear their speech.

Also the documentary "Shut up and Sing" will be available on the 20th of February.

I'm not a big fan of the genre, but I did buy that CD when it came out in support, and after listening I realized just how very talented they are. They were supposed to play the Fargodome last year, but I guess 'true' country fans in this area are just a bunch of narrow minded assholes, and they had to cancel because of poor ticket sales. I regret not seeing them live.
I hope they win their very deserved award!

There were a few cutaway shots of country singers and some seemed conflicted but for the most part, the crowd was very supportive.

5 Grammys! In your face to all the haters. It's a great album. I never was much of a fan of their early sound, but am definately liking this pop turn they're on. Here in the liberal Bay Area, we were told in 2004 that we were "out of touch" with the rest of the country and that's why Shrubbo won. Then in 2006 it was revealed that the bible belt and red-staters were the ones who were out of touch with US. Well, they got in touch and the Dems steamrolled the elephants in the election. The Dixie Chicks were right from the get go. Who these days is NOT ashamed that Dubya is from America??
