If nothing else, because their rights as citizens need to be protected, but having said all that, national Democrats need not worry too much: those states were never going to be swing states in 2008 and Louisiana does not have major elections in 2006, and more white people in Mississippi (Republicans) were displaced than black people.

Don't distort what I said. I support what Pelosi is doing and we need to be vigilant about tomfoolery by the people who control the elections. I only said that the national implications are not going to be disastrous.
