Is anybody really clear on what the causes are for the violence there? Remember the Sy Hersch piece a couple of months ago saying that we (the US government) was secretly funding Sunni militants?

I believe there is also a carrier group in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Roosevelt (was recently at Italy).

The Stennis and Nimitz are in the Persian Gulf.


The Kitty Hawk is in the Pacific.
The Reagan and Eisenhower are just back from the ME.

I can't find the USS Truman.
