Sen. Michael Bennet will win the Democratic primary, the Denver Post projects.

Supporters were giddy and shouting tonight as incomplete election returns showed the senator appointed 18 months ago defeating former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff.

In the Democratic U.S. Senate primary, Bennet had 54 percent of votes compared with Romanoff's 46 percent after the polls closed.

Romanoff actually sold his house and loaned the proceeds to his foundering campaign. What a sucker.
