the vast majority are hearing is the message of the corporate media. We who use alternative media sources such as DU are in a tiny minority of Americans.
"The people" are consumed with self-interest. We care more about the outcome of a sports competition than we do about what is going on in our government. We were given the greatest gift a people could be given when the Founders created this system of government, yet two-thirds of Americans can't even name their Senators and Representatives.
