they cant afford to live in the US on SS plus their savings. Also it is becoming clear healthcare can be decent and affordable in many countries overseas.. even developing ones. I am planning to move to the Philippines in a few years and retire there with my filipina wife. There are drawbacks of course but the benefits far outweigh them.. imo.
