16. The evolution of medicine has changed a lot of death causes
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 02:52 PM by SoCalDem
I know for a fact that lots of elderly people in the past had alzheimers, but back them they just called it "feeble-minded" or "senile"..

Humans have not changed that much, but medicine has..

Lots of "country" or "small town" people of a generation ago, died at home with their families, and they probably never even had medical tests.. It was just a given, that once you got past 60, your days were numbered..

It was geneological lottery..

Cancer has always been with us too, but they just did not diagnose it..

I do believe that the CJD has been with us too, but to admit it would be too frightening, so alzheimers is a more genteel name for brain destruction..

and there may be different varieties of it as well.. Perhaps in younger people it is more profound and kills faster.. Maybe in the aged, it takes longer..

Why knows?? Not us..because the research necessary to confirm ..one way or another would just be deemed "junk science"..:(
