By insisting Cheney is staying, the Bushies means they're dumping his ass.

NOTE TO THE MODS: I am not speculating on the death of the Vice President, merely talking about the possibility of them making up some phony medical story to justify throwing Cheney overboard. The last time I posted a thread on this topic, it was taken down. Please let this one live. Thanks.

That said, every time I hear Ed Gillespie or some other Bush stooge insist that Cheney is not leaving the ticket, I become more convinced that they're planning to drop him for "medical reasons". They have to know that Cheney can only hinder their chances, especially by pitting him against John Edwards. And by dumping him now, they'll be admitting that their were failures at the highest levels of this administration, and we know they'll never do that.

So I'm expecting that between now and October, the Bush people will say that Cheney has had another heart attack, whether he has or not. By removing him for "medical reasons" they can dodge any criticism from the media as to their reason for dumping him, but we will know the truth. By giving up his office, Cheney wouldn't even have to give up that much power. He could easily remain behind the scenes and still call the shots, but without any of that pesky media attention preventing him from doing whatever he wants.

So I will be VERY surprised if by November we're not going up against a Bush/Powell or a Bush/Rice ticket.
