Rove is not useful for the advice he gives. He is useful not as "Bush's Brain" but as "Bush's Thug". It is his ability to smear and intimidate that make him an asset to Bush. His ability to keep the media in line has begun to slip noticably in recent months and under indictment it will erode even further.
Rove has been giving Jr. awful advice and has fumbled often.
