45. I really miss the IA caucuses (took part 72-88)
I always got in school the mantra 'primary good - caucus bad'.

But in a caucus you learn, you PARTICIPATE IN DEMOCRACY.

You spend time, you have to think, you have to talk with and compromise with your neighbors.

Don't authoritarian, totalitarian types hate the original style American democracy - 'the New England town meeting'?

Primaries are what the modern media love -

...people get their info from TV ads: the latest Hannity screed in the ear and into the ballot box....no need to defend it in front of your neighbors.
