NOT coughing them up is just plain stupid. Eventually she'll have to to bow to political pressure and the longer she waits the bigger deal it becomes. Remember the Ferarro debacle, and you pups who are too young need only look back as recently as Bush allowing RIce to testify to see the political toll one pays for stalling the inevitable.

She should have just voluntarily released her returns to pre-empt a probablem somebody shouldhave seen coming long ago.

No statements required nor questions answered. Just a "I'm rich, here are my tax forms - thank you have a nice day." It would be old news the next day. Instead it just draws more attention to the idea that there is something to hide. As if her being fabulously wealthy is the best kept secret in politics. They are just worried that disclosure of her wealth and tax information will make Kerry come across as "Mr. Theresa Heinz".
