Reply #11: Fires around here are north of the lake in the CMR. So far, so good

Lots of rain which is good but also means a whole lot more plant growth and fuel when it dries out. There have been some showers this eveing but not really any lightening.

The BLM keeps a little squad of firefighters here in summer to get moving fast if the need arises. Big concern is that most of our state Guardsmen are in Iraq, along with all but one of the helicopters. Gov has been pounding the administration because he wants the guard and teh helicpoters HERE where they are supposed to be.

Wheat fields look good and the cows are full and chewing cud by 9AM, belly high grass is a rare thing in this arid country.
