HP printer help - PC using Windows XP

I have an all-in-one HP 1610. I know that the yellow is gone in the ink cartridge, so I removed it and replaced with one from an unopened package. Now it says "Remove and Check Color Cartridge"

It's brand new, the tape's removed and it's the correct cartridge. When I print anyway and ignore the message, I get light and dark streaks on the images. This couldn't happen at a worse time. I'm trying to get a fundraising brochure done for a client.

Isn't there an option to tell the damn thing you're changing the cartridge?

Help??
