Yesterday afternoon, I had to wait 30 minutes outside the tiny little place in Locarno where I buy loose tea -- the shop is owned by a really cool Canadian guy who has excellent tea and doesn't treat me like crap for speaking mainly English, German and very poor Italian here in an Italian-speaking state.

When I finally got in (the place is REALLY tiny) I was struck by the music playing on CD. If you like alt bluegrass/blues, maybe a fan of John Prine, OCMC for instance you might like this band. The Devil Makes Three



With a slightly punky perspective on vintage American blues, The Devil Makes Three is a breath of fresh musical air on its eponymous Milan debut. Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk, and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummerless trio brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music that is deeply steeped in rhythm. “The rhythm is what our band is about... we write with rhythm and dancing in mind.” The DMT’s infectious amalgam of styles talks the talk and it walks the walk right out of the starting gate.
